2018-19 Policies & Procedures
Online registration, scheduling & billing: For the security of our customer information, Meter provides an online portal for students and families to manage their profiles and billing preferences. It is the responsibility of students and/or caregivers to keep their online profile current with all contact information.
Private lessons: Private music lessons are continuous, and students may retain their spot as long as they like.
Group classes: Group classes run from September 9 to June 22, and new students can join at any time.
Tuition and fees: See our Tuition & Fees page. First month is prorated, and ongoing monthly tuition is by autopay on the 1st day of each month. Private lesson and class tuition is averaged over the course of the year, and stays the same regardless of the number of sessions in a month. Upon registration, students pay a $20 annual registration fee. Payments must be made by automatic bank account debit or automatic credit card payment. No cash or checks are accepted.
Withdrawals: To withdraw from lessons or classes, please provide email notification to the front desk by the 16th of your final month. Schedule will be discontinued starting the 1st of the following month, and all future automatic payments will be canceled.
Snow days: If the school must cancel classes due to extreme weather or events beyond our control such as power outages, teacher make-up days will be offered.
Missed lessons: No refunds are given for student absences in events including but not limited to illness, vacation, transportation issues, or scheduling conflicts. As a way to makeup missed time, students are invited to attend up to 3 of our group classes each year. Students may use these for themselves, or contact the front desk about transferring as a gift to a friend or family member. Students must rsvp for classes by email at least one week in advance of attending.
Substitute teachers: In order to keep scheduling consistent, Meter schedules substitute teachers when a regularly scheduled teacher is ill or otherwise unable to teach. No refunds or make up lessons will be given if the student does not attend a lesson with a substitute.
Important dates: It is the responsibility of students and/or caregivers to be aware of all school activities, including recitals, extra classes, and the dates that the school is open or closed. Our primary communication is via email newsletter, and we also use our website and studio bulletin boards to share important events and dates.
Student care: Meter is not responsible for providing before or after care for youth students in private lessons or classes. Students should be with a parent or caregiver during any time they spend in the studio before or after their scheduled lesson.
Injuries & treatment: Meter will provide any medical assistance they deem appropriate for minors enrolled in our programs, and all expenses incurred are the responsibility of parents or guardians of that child. Adult students and the parents or legal guardians of minor students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on school property resulting from activities conducted by the students before, during, or after lesson or class time.
Media release: Meter reserves the right to take photographs and video of students to use in educational and promotional materials.
