Seattle Drum Camps
If you’ve had lessons or are new to drumming, this camp is for you! Designed to lay a solid foundation for aspiring drummers, campers will spend the week learning the fundamentals of playing the snare drum, drum set, and a few other percussion instruments. With a big focus on fun, the group atmosphere makes this camp a great way to learn to play.
Snare drum topics will include proper grip and playing position, basic stroke types, beginner drum rudiments, a few essential musical terms and some basic note reading. Drumset studies will focus on basic beats and fills, and applying them to campers’ favorite songs and music. A portion of each day will be spent learning a percussion piece to be performed as a group for family and friends at the final concert on the last day of camp at 2:00pm.
Our camps are best suited for students ages 6-11, but we will consider campers as young as 5 or as old as 13 by special request. Our staff are ready to support total beginners on an instrument. However, please take the opportunity if possible to schedule some private lessons or group classes before your camp program. A camper with a few months of lessons will become familiar with their instrument, already know a few songs, and have an especially fun week at camp.
Students are welcome to register for any number and combination of camps. Staff are prepared to support a range of levels, so by attending additional sessions students can build on the skills they developed earlier in the summer.
