Private Lessons

Private Music Lessons in Seattle — for Kids and Adults

Students at Meter include complete beginners, adults building on childhood study, siblings who want to start a family band, high schoolers getting ready for a big audition, and budding singer-songwriters. We believe the right teacher, the right atmosphere, and the right community are the recipe for real progress on an instrument. We want you to look forward to lessons each week, and leave inspired to play more.

Private lessons are a fast, focused way to get started — and a personalized one. Your teacher builds a plan around your goals, not a fixed curriculum everyone follows the same way, whether you’re five years old and holding an instrument for the first time or forty-five and finally getting back to one you set down years ago.

How It Works

Lessons run 30, 45, or 60 minutes, once a week, at whichever of our two studios is the better fit for your schedule. Read about our teachers on our registration page, and choose the one who is the best fit for your goals and your availability — and if the fit isn’t right after your first few lessons, switching teachers is always an option.

Lessons for Adults

If you’re an adult weighing whether to start, you’re not the exception here — a meaningful share of our students are adults, some returning to an instrument from childhood, others starting completely fresh. Adult lessons tend to move at a faster pace and lean more on the music and goals you bring in, whatever that looks like for you.

Our Studios

Central District — 2110 E Union St, Seattle, WA 98122

Columbia City — 4435 Rainier Ave S, Seattle, WA 98118

Both studios have dedicated practice rooms — a space to focus on your music that’s often hard to find at home. Families and adult students from Madrona, Leschi, Capitol Hill, Mt. Baker, Hillman City, Seward Park, and Beacon Hill study with us at one location or the other, whichever is the shorter drive.
